Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Top of the Falls

You depart early from Kampala or Entebbe and begin your journey north towards Murchison Falls National Park. The drive passes through changing landscapes, from urban settings to rural countryside and open savannah. You may make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking if time allows, adding a chance to see all members of the Big Five.

Upon arrival in the park, you proceed to the dramatic Top of the Falls, where the Nile forces itself through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging down with immense power. The viewpoint offers one of the most iconic scenes in Uganda, with thunderous water and mist rising into the air.

You then continue to your lodge for relaxation and dinner as you prepare for the next day’s activities.

Day 2: Game Drive and Nile Boat Safari

You start the day early with a sunrise game drive across the northern sector of the park. This area offers excellent wildlife viewing, including elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, and various antelope species. The early hours increase your chances of spotting predators before they retreat from the heat.

After the game drive, you return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you head out for a boat safari on the Nile, one of the highlights of any Murchison Falls safari. The cruise takes you upstream towards the base of the falls, where you encounter large concentrations of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a wide range of birdlife along the riverbanks.

The boat stops near the base of the falls, giving you a unique perspective of the powerful cascade from below.

Day 3: Budongo Forest Chimpanzee Trekking and Return

After an early breakfast, you head to Budongo Forest Reserve, located on the southern edge of the park. This forest is known for its dense mahogany trees and large population of chimpanzees.

You join experienced guides for a chimpanzee trekking experience, walking through the forest as you track a habituated group. The forest is also rich in biodiversity, with birds, monkeys, and unique plant species adding depth to the experience.

After the trek, you begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening.
